About

This blog started off as Quanttech - a site to share views and provide insight on quantitative finance and trading technology. It's since evolved into my personal site for all topics tech and finance related.

I've has been tinkering with computers and technology for as long as he can remember. It all started with a Sinclair Spectrum 48K when I was a kid and progressed from there. I grew up in London, studied Computer Science at Warwick University, and then headed back to London, where I stepped into the world of finance.

I was fortunate enough to experience the explosion of algorithmic trading first hand, developing core trading platforms at some of the largest European investment banks- this was right as the push to replace traders with machines was gaining momentum (and back when ten microseconds was considered a long time!)

As much as I loved spending his days working with some really great people across tech and finance, I always used to think about what it would be like to live somewhere with a greater outdoor life, preferably where it is possible to surf before work. Sydney was the obvious choice, so I moved out here in 2012 and have since been making the most of the waves and great weather.

Following a further stint working for another large financial institution, in late 2015, I jumped into the world of startups, where I co-founded and built all of the tech for Huffle and coHome.

I am the author of web3j, the Java library for interacting with nodes on the Ethereum blockchain, and recently joined Othera as their CTO, to build their blockchain lending platform and exchange.
